Shakira has likened her relationship together with her soccer star beau to being “married with a soldier”.
The Colombian performer, who’s in a long-term relationship with Spanish football player Gerard Pique, has popped about the challenges of managing both their busy careers.
The Try Everything singer told U.K.’s Hello! magazine that they finds it frustrating when she gets to spend time aside from the 29-year-old Barcelona-based star.
“It’s like being married into a soldier, other than he doesn’t die in battle,” she sighed. “Gerard is anchored to Barcelona and can’t travel – they have a few days off on a monthly basis, but otherwise he has got to be there for his team every single day pretty much, training and playing matches.”
The 39-year-old singer, who shares sons Milan, three, and Sasha, 13 months, with Gerard, also reveals their demanding schedules imply the couple must make compromises.
“This is really a learning curve for me personally, because I like to travel a whole lot and I’m like, ‘What can you mean, you can’t go? Let’s go!’” she laughed.

“I are actually playing solo like my life and it’s completely different to live having a person who must think about his team and stay mindful of them as of himself,” she explained. “That’s why I want the kids to learn exactly about sports regardless of whether they don’t turn out doing it professionally – what shapes the personality of youngsters is just fantastic.”
The Grammy-winner also regards Gerard like a “wonderful father” and role model on her sons.
“Since the youngsters were born, a tender side of him has arrived out. He is the one that changes the diapers and hubby is there for the children as he is there to me,” she added.
