One Direction nabbed the superior prize for the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday night (22Nov15), after they were named Artist on the Year with the second quantity of a row. Check One Direction If I Could fly sheet music page.
The boy band began the celebrations early by obtaining the prize for Favorite Band, Duo Or Group – Pop/Rock, and they also were back onstage again to get the final trophy with the night for Artist in the Year, which also won in 2014.
“Wow, it is absolutely incredible for this award now a couple of years in a row,” band member Louis Tomlinson said on their acceptance speech. “Thank you a great deal. This is a testament of how incredible our fans are. You’ve been great to us this current year, so thanks a lot.”
Also going home with two prizes each were Nicki Minaj (Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album – The Pinkprint), and The Weeknd (Favorite Male Artist – Soul/R&B and Favorite Soul/R&B Album – Beauty Behind the Madness). More about One Direction If I could fly chords here.
Taylor Swift claimed one of the most awards with the night with three, including Song on the Year (Blank Space), Favorite Pop/Rock Album (1989), and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, but she hasn’t been present in the ceremony.
Other winners included Justin Bieber (Collaboration from the Year – Where Are U Now with Skrillex and Diplo), Luke Bryan (Favorite Male Artist – Country), Carrie Underwood (Favorite Female Artist – Country), and Fall Out Boy (Alternative Artist).
Host Jennifer Lopez started the ceremony using a high energy dance routine to some from the year’s (15) biggest hits, while memorable sets originated the likes of Coldplay, who made their first AMAs appearance in seven years, Alanis Morrissette and Demi Lovato, who sang the rocker’s hit You Oughta Know in recognition of that 20th anniversary release, and Celine Dion, who paid tribute for the victims in the recent Paris terror attacks with classic Edith Piaf song, Hymne a l’amour.
Other performance highlights at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre originated in The Weeknd, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande Focus sheet music, Underwood, 5 Seconds of Summer and Bieber, who closed the show that has a medley of his new songs, What Do You Mean?, Where Are U Now, and Sorry, as they danced with a waterfall of fake rain on stage.
