Aussie “pop-punk” band 5 Seconds Of Summer have joined Foo Fighters, Kasabian and Jake Bugg in taking home a gong for the 2015 NME Awards, even though title with the award is probably not too much of an underlying cause for celebration. Check Hey Everybody sheet music page.
The awards, which occurred in London on Wednesday, saw the boys handed the honour of “worst band” beating out competitors Bastille, Blink-182, One Direction, U2 and also the defending champions, The 1975.
Understandably this rock band weren’t there to recover their award nonetheless they have since shown their appreciation on social networking. 5SOS shared a screenshot of NME’s article declaring them the “worst band” which has been retweeted 36,000 times and met with comments like, “im actually more satisfied with this than when you won a grammy tbh” and “told everyone your band sucks”.
The band’s guitarist Michael Clifford also tweeted, “Won the NME worst band award. I’m so damn happy at the moment. thx to everyone who voted #dreamcomingtrue.” In fact, he even actively campaigned with the award, attractive to fans a year ago to opt for them within the hallowed category.
“HOLY SHIT WE GOT NOMINATED FOR WORST BAND AT THE NME AWARDS,” he tweeted. “pls pls pls vote. I’m not being sarcastic it could be so incredible to win.” Their new hit song is Hey Everybody.
5 Seconds of Summer now join a distinguished report on past recipients from the award including Oasis, Nickelback, One Direction, Dave Matthews Band and a year ago’s winner, The 1975.
The award will sit upon this rock band’s mantlepiece with previous accolades including a 2015 People’s Choice Award for Favourite Breakout Artist and also a 2014 Song in the Year ARIA Award for She Looks So Perfect.
